Christ & COVID-19
Dear Resolved Church Family,
The events of the past 48 hours have changed our city dramatically as the government responds to the COVID crisis, and we elders have discussed our response as well as our current action plan moving forward in this uncertain time.
The Church & Trials
First, we want to say that the Church throughout history as seen all kinds of trials, afflictions, persecutions, pandemics, wars, and troubles and has remained intact through the grace of God. This is not the first time that the Church has had to respond to difficult public situations, and has always sought the good of the people in how She has responded with the gospel and grace of Jesus Christ. These have always presented opportunities to love our neighbors and to love God's people in unique ways which can be just as powerful a representation and proclamation of the gospel as our Sunday worship gatherings.
We Are Canceling Services for Now
Second, the church body is far more than a single gathering on Sunday mornings. We are a community of relationships in which the gatherings are used to help foster. The relationships and community that we have among us are what will sustain and nourish us in this time of pandemic.
With that said, due to the recent government prohibitions on gatherings 10 people or more, we are canceling worship gatherings for the next few Sundays. We do not cancel services lightly. We believe that our God moves in power through the gathering of His people as they worship together and hear the preaching of His Word. However, we believe that in the short-term, this is the wisest and kindest path for our church.
In the Meantime
While we are not gathering for congregational worship, we encourage you to set aside time to worship through song, prayer, and engaging God’s Word – either individually, with family, or with your Community Groups as possible.
There are two primary reasons the elders have come to this decision:
First, we are seeking to honor our government officials (Romans 13:1-7) who have urged us to use extreme caution during this time.
Second, we believe that canceling our worship gathering is an act of loving our neighbors. There are many vulnerable people in our city who will be put at great risk by the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). As Christians, we are called by Jesus to care for and defend the vulnerable. In canceling our worship gathering, we can actively fight to slow the spread of COVID-19. Canceling our worship services can give health professionals more time to prepare and care for those who are most at risk from the virus.
Pastor Ryan Buss will be prerecording sermons and sending them out with an attached liturgy for individuals, families, and small gatherings to listen to and worship together as well as sending out devotionals throughout this time in order to keep God's Word central in our hearts and minds during these uncertain times.

The kid's lessons will still go out to the parents so that we can continue to disciple our children in the LORD.
The elders are monitoring this situation very closely and will keep our church updated as the situation progresses.
For now, we want you to see this as an opportunity that God is giving us to slow down, spend more time with family and friends (safely of course), and to focus on personal health both spiritual as well as physical.
We are planning on resuming our larger Sunday gathering as soon as we are permitted, and we believe that God can use this to continue to minister to our hearts and even grow us as a church community.
Continuing in Partnership
This is also a time to continue to financially support the work of the church as we move forward together. Giving online is the best and easiest way to continue the financial support of the church, and if you aren't signed up to give online, now is a great time to start at theresolved.com/giving. You can also mail in a check to 5444 Napa St. San Diego, 92110 if you prefer.
Let Us Continue to Pray
If there is anything that you would like prayer for, or have a need of, please contact us right away and we will do what we can to help. We know that many businesses and jobs are shut down right now, and we want to be available to relieve the difficulties of this as best we can.
We know that these are uncertain times, and it is natural to feel anxious or scared. We have the Great High King who still sits on His throne, ruling over all things, and has already determined both the scope and intensity of this virus and the government's actions. His love and mercy do not end but are renewed day by day. He is our hope, our joy, and our true life. May we lean into Him during this time and experience His grace in new and unique ways!
In His Love,
Pastor Ryan Buss
